Scholarships

Since 1992, the Friends of Westbury has funded over $500,000 in college scholarships.  The Foundation is pleased to offer graduating seniors an opportunity to apply for our scholarship program.

 

Scholarship applications will be available in the College office at Westbury High School. 

Criteria to apply for this scholarship include:

 

Attendance: Must have attended Westbury High School at least two consecutive years and have an excellent attendance record. 

 

Academic Achievement: Must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher.

 

Standardized Testing: Must have passed STARR.

 

Leadership: Must demonstrate leadership skills in class, in your community and/or school activities.

 

Extra-curricular activities in school or community and/or work experience, including family obligations.

 

SAT score of at least 1000 or ACT composite or at least 19.

 

Narrative Requirement:

 

We require two samples of your writing on two topics:

 

     1)  A personal narrative about yourself and your career goals and how you hope to attain them.

     2)  A narrative on why you need or should receive financial assistance for your higher education.

 

Three teacher recommendations.
